From chromosomes to construction: Professor Jionglong Su on interdisciplinarity

A robotic dog patrols a construction site, carefully counting every single steel bar. This isn’t some scene from a virtual world – it’s an ongoing project by Professor Jionglong Su from the School of AI and Advanced Computing at XJTLU Entrepreneur College (Taicang). It was one of Professor Su’s former students, who now works at China Railway, who first drew him into the field of intelligent construction site management. For this initiative, the robotic dog replaces manual patrol inspections, while computer vision technology counts the steel bars.

Next Together: Xi’an alumni celebrate XJTLU’s 20th anniversary

On 7 April, the Xi’an stop of Next Together – Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU)’s alumni event series marking its 20th anniversary – was held at Xi’an Film Studio Story House. Co-hosted by the University’s Alumni Affairs Office and ILEAD TALK, the event brought together nearly 100 participants, including alumni from Shaanxi province, educators, parents, and current students. Discussions focused on talent development and education in the digital intelligence era.

Next Together: Shanghai alumni celebrate XJTLU’s 20th anniversary

More than 200 alumni, mentors, leaders, and students attended the second event in Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University’s “Next Together” 20th anniversary celebration series on 28 March in Shanghai. Co-organised by the XJTLU Alumni Affairs Office and the Shanghai Alumni Group, the event featured Kun Wang, Deputy Head of the Student Admissions and Career Development Office, who presented data showing that “most XJTLU graduates work in finance, internet technology, and professional services, while many are also employed by Fortune Global 500 companies”.

XJTLU kicks off its first ‘Next Together’ 20th anniversary event

In March, the first event of Next Together – Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University’s series of alumni events to celebrate its 20th anniversary – kicked off in Wuhan. Co-hosted by XJTLU’s Alumni Affairs Office and its Hubei Alumni Group, the gathering brought together nearly 50 local alumni, alongside university leaders, external mentors and industry partner representatives, for in-depth discussions on talent development and education in the digital intelligence era, as well as alumni growth and future collaboration.
